There are plenty of great restaurants to try in Sacramento, California, and the options are endless when it comes to breakfast places in the city. Over the summer, I stayed at the Kimpton Sawyer Hotel downtown. It was delightfully comfortable, however, one of the downsides was the lack of free breakfast. The hotel did serve tea and coffee in the mornings, but other than ordering room service, the only option was to try restaurants in the area.

Here are my favorite brunch restaurants in Sacramento:

  • The 7th Street Standard in downtown Sacramento is the perfect spot for a quiet Sunday brunch. Located on the corner of the DOCO shopping plaza, the restaurant has a classic and sophisticated atmosphere with plush booths, gold accents, and big windows that let in plenty of natural light. It was hard to choose from the cocktail menu, but the mimosas were made to perfection. The food was divine and the service was even better. I ordered the “7th Street Standard Breakfast” which came with crispy roasted potatoes and fluffy, cheesy scrambled eggs. I also ordered french toast which came covered in fresh berries, dusted in powdered sugar, and topped with a delicious creamy vanilla custard. I ended up having to share after I got too full. I would recommend checking this spot out for a weekend brunch.

  • Estelle Bakery & Pâtisserie has an adorable cafe location in DOCO. This bakery is a great spot to grab a quick breakfast or delicate pastry before a day of adventures. The little cafe serves delectable open-face sandwiches and fully loaded quiches along with some lunch options like soups and salads. The smoked salmon and avocado tartine was filling, the perfect breakfast for a day of exploring the city. The menu also features different flavors of french toast, garnished with fruit and other sweet toppings. The classic pastries - like croissants, tarts, and danishes - are made fresh each day. I recommend taking a box of macarons to go.

  • Punch Bowl Social in DOCO is another great brunch spot. The restaurant is known for its bar and nightlife activities, so it’s relatively quiet in the mornings. The menu includes some classics like a breakfast burrito and biscuits and gravy. I ordered “The Standard,” which came with eggs, bacon, and potatoes. The salty-sweet Bread Pudding French Toast was covered in mouth-watering salted caramel. The service was great; as soon as my mimosa glass was empty, the waitress was ready to bring another. I recommend checking out Punch Bowl Social for a fun brunch date experience.

There are plenty of other restaurants to get brunch in Sacramento. What are some of your favorite breakfast spots?
