If you’re anything like me, a sweet treat after a meal is an absolute must. So, you can imagine my excitement when I heard about a new macaron spot that opened in the DMV just before the end of 2024. There goes my resolution of cutting down on sweets.
The new bakery - Le Macaron - opened in Rio Lakefront in December 2023 and has been satisfying my sweet tooth ever since.
The bakery specializes in the iconic French pastry and uses natural, quality-sourced ingredients to make deliciously light macarons with classic and unique flavors like salted caramel and bubble gum.
My favorite flavors were red velvet and champagne! The red velvet macaron was filled with a sweet and smooth buttercream and the champagne macaron was covered in sugar sprinkles and had more of a sharp flavor, like drinking wine that has gone flat or eating grapes that aren't too sweet.
The macaron menu also features dairy-free flavors like key lime-strawberry and mango jam which are filled with tart, fruity confiture.
Le Macaron also serves other tempting pastries like heavenly chocolate-filled croissants, and decadent eclairs covered in icing, mouthwatering meringue. The bakery also serves different flavors of gelato.
