Studying Abroad: Friendsgiving in England

The Royal Pavilion in Brighton
The Royal Pavilion in Brighton

This week went by extremely quickly, especially as it gets closer to the end of my trip. I spent most of the week working on my final paper for my British Culture class. The final paper asks us to compare an aspect of British culture to American culture, and I chose to write about tea and its significance. My final paper for my Travel Writing class was very similar; in it, I analyzed the differences between American and British cultures that are portrayed in the media.

Since my final project for my Audiovisual Professional Practice class isn't due until after I return home, I had to learn how to use new software, which was a little frustrating, but it was nice to know I had more time to complete the project. By Wednesday, I finished my travel writing paper. I spent some time after class exploring the city and going to different stores to buy souvenirs for friends and family back home.

Thanksgiving Dinner at the Regency Restaurant
Thanksgiving Dinner at the Regency Restaurant

Thursday was Thanksgiving, and a few of my flatmates and I decided to eat at a restaurant for dinner, even though the holiday isn't celebrated in England. We ate at the Regency Restaurant in Brighton, a seafood restaurant with lots of options on the menu. It was nice to sit with friends and reflect on the bulk of our trip. Meeting and making friends with others who value travel and exploration has been one of the most rewarding parts of my trip.

There was another group trip scheduled for this weekend to the Globe Theatre in London, but I decided not to go. I spent the weekend completing my British Culture paper and working on my Audio Visual Professional Practice project.
