This week, during my Audiovisual Professional Practice class, we spent time in the TV studio in order to get started on our project. The class focuses on giving students real experience working with video and photography. Although I've been in the studio at my home university, this was much different. Aside from being a bit bigger, the studio at Brighton was more modern with more lights. We learned how to work the cameras and lights and got some practice working in the control room.

After class, I took the bus back to the Falmer campus for my British Culture class. The class is for all the study abroad students in the program and exposes us to different aspects of British culture. This week in class we got an exclusive tour of the American Express Community Stadium which is just behind the campus.

The Falmer football stadium was built in 2011, so it's still a fairly new building. Although I'm not a huge football fan, there were some cool features that we got to see. Our guide first took us to the VIP conference room which overlooks the stadium. The room was being renovated when we visited, but there were dinner tables with white tablecloths around the room and a long bar in the corner. After leaving the conference room, we walked over to the highest seats in the stadium which is where the journalists sit to cover the game.

After walking through the stadium seats and media room where players take interviews, we headed downstairs to the locker room to get a closer look at the turf. As you walk toward the locker room there are quotes along the walls to inspire the players. The locker room was bright and clean; it was decked out in Albion jerseys and their colors, white and blue. They played music for us as we walked through the stadium tunnel where the players run out before a game.

Over the weekend, my friend and I tried a new restaurant in Brighton called Very Italian Pizza. We happened to find the little hole in the wall while looking for a place to get good pasta. The restaurant was packed on Sunday night, but we were able to get a table after a short wait. The restaurant had a vintage Italian look with ivy climbing up the outside and old wallpaper on the inside. The service was pretty slow, but the food was delicious and affordable.
